Legacy

As I mentioned in Our Story, my grandfather was a knife maker. He was also a collector of knives. At the time when he passed on his collection was in the hundreds of knives maybe thousands. I have some of them in my collection now. This is why I called my first folding knife The Legacy. I want his legacy to live on in the knives I make.

Designing this knife allowed me to go down the biggest rabbit hole I have ever entered! To be honest I totally underestimated what goes into a folding knife. It was a challenge, but I love challenging hard work!

When I designed this knife, I designed it to last. I started with the action, I wanted a flipping titanium frame locking knife. Titanium is rigid, has great spring properties, will not corrode. There was no question this was the material I was using for the handles. The titanium also has a great strength to weight ratio, so I decided to use titanium screws and pivots as well. The bearings and detents are made from ceramic ball bearings. Ceramic will not wear or corrode, it is the best possible material for the life of the knife.

I have used a few different types of blade steels for the Legacy. I like RWL 34 and CPM s90v for stainless options and Damasteel Stainless Damascus for any Damascus Legacy’s we make. When we use Damascus for the blade we also make a matching clip.

Each Legacy is engraved with a serial number and Made In Alaska on the action side of the knife.
